Supply Chain SecurityThe focus of the CargoWatch® system is to provide supply chain security for containers and the cargo they hold. To accomplish this in a reliable, flexible, and cost-effective manner, PAR LMS' solution employs a two-part intelligent device installed on containers. This device is equipped with a variety of sensors, and possesses both local area and wide area wireless communications capability. The two parts of the device are the Container DataGate (CDG) and the GE ALLSET Container Security Device (CSD), both of which are permanently attached to the container itself. The CargoWatch® CDG and ALLSET CSD are mounted in a manner that provides physical protection to the electronics; conceals them from the view of the casual observer; permits communications between them via low power secure Radio Frequency (RF) link; and permits placement of GPS and Global System for Mobiles (GSM)/short Message Service (SMS) antennas with appropriate sky exposure. The ALLSET CSD can be locally accessed and monitored either via the PAR CDG or a handheld reader unit. The intent of this duplication of communications links is to provide seamless supply chain security for containers throughout their entire lifespans. Supply chain security can be provided for refrigerated containers as well as any type of wet or dry container that is installed with the CargoWatch® system. The system is rugged, waterproof, and shock resistant. Its reliability and real-time communications capabilities have been proven time and again throughout 10 years of field deployments of its predecessor, the CargoMate system, for both Government and commercial customers around the world.
