Reefer Container Monitoring System
Yorkville, NY, November 27, 2006
The Cargo*Watch Reefer Container Monitoring System, developed by PAR Logistics Management Systems
(PAR), provides the critical information refrigerated container owners need to protect their
equipment as it travels over-the-road (OTR). PAR's system, the RT-100, remotely monitors performance
and controls key operational parameters of both wet and dry boxes in real-time.
The RT-100 is currently affixed to more than 800 reefer units to monitor, record, and report
location, status, temperature, fuel level, battery level, alarms, power changes, and utilization
history. The information is sent via digital wireless data connection to PAR's Internet-based
management system, InQuire®, which generates both historical and alarm reports. Key parameters
such as temperature can be adjusted remotely. PAR's system is compatible with 40-foot and 53-foot
reefers and all box trucks, and is the most reliable and protected product available to cold chain
stakeholders to prevent spoilage and pilferage of highly perishable products. The PAR system
eliminates gaps in unit coverage, decreases reliability problems, reduces time delays, and improves
unit performance. The stakeholder thus saves on labor and fuel costs, improves utilization of assets,
and is able to provide higher levels of service to customers.
Waterproof and shock-resistant, environmentally hardened and field tested, PAR's reefer container
monitoring system incorporates GPS, Internet, and wireless communications technologies. The unit
is housed in a single, rugged module that attaches easily to any container permanently and securely
in less than 30 minutes. The RT-100 has evolved over 10 years of asset tracking efforts for the U.S.
Department of Transportation, the Department of Defense, and numerous private trucking and shipping
companies.
According to Vice President and General Manager of PAR LMS, John Sammon III, "Our reefer container
monitoring system has exceeded all expectations for cold chain tracking and protection. We are an approved
vendor for both Carrier and ThermoKing, and our biggest advantages are low cost and dependability.
We are confident we provide customers with security, peace of mind, and positive bottom line
financial returns."
RT-100 technology includes GPS antenna and module; cellular antenna; motion, power, and temperature
sensors; customizable web based reporting; real-time reefer alert messages; reefer temperature sense
and control option (remote communications interface to refrigeration controls); communications
electronics; and self-contained power supply source (5 years). Add-ons include fuel level monitoring
and reporting; integrated technology of intrusion detection; and E-seal and container security devices.
