Par Logistics Announces 2 way Command and Control on Refrigerated Trailers
Press Release September 10, 2008
Par Logistics has become the first and only sanctioned two way communication telematics provider using the approved protocols for temperature control in the refrigerated trailer industry. Par also broke new ground as the only authorized cellular communications provider for command and control of both Thermo King and Carrier Transicold refrigerated assets.
Par’s approved status with Carrier Transicold and Thermo King for the use of cellular technologies to manipulate operations and functionality of refrigerated trailers that are traveling over the road and rail, is a first in transportation.
John W. Sammon III commented: “Having achieved approval status as the authorized 2 way communications provider to these assets is a significant achievement and highlights Par’s superior position in the cold chain. Par’s solutions for remote reefer trailer operation provide end users with a safe and secure method for managing and protecting perishable cargo through the internet.”
In a general bulletin put out to the cold chain community Carrier Transicold announced this week that: “The remote communications company “PAR Logistics Management Systems” (PLMS) is now DataTrak option approved for 2 way communication. This designation signifies that PLMS’s tracking and monitoring system which has been compatible for 1 way communication with Carrier transport refrigeration units since November 2006 is now able to send 2 way commands to remotely control Carrier transport refrigeration units.”
Operators now have the ability to respond to critical reefer alarms, turn reefer units on and off all from their office computer. The Par Logistics tracking and monitoring system can connect to all North American single and multitemp truck and trailer refrigeration units using both Standard Summit and Advance microprocessors on the dating back to 1996 with Carrier Transicold. With Thermo King Par utilizes 2 way command and control on the MP series, SB series, as well as the SR2 series of micros.
