Logistics ManagementPAR LMS' CargoWatch technology solution uses commercially available elements to construct a container-centric solution that provides end-to-end coverage of freight shipments, i.e., coverage from point of origin to ultimate destination whether containers travel Over-The-Road (OTR), by rail, or by sea. The foundation of the logistics management solution is the CargoWatch® Container DataGate (CDG), a two-part, discrete device attached to each and every container that is deployed. The device provides electronic identification of the container to which it is attached, and acts as a flexible and expandable platform for sensors that can be used to ensure the security of the container and its cargo. The device possesses limited-range, secure RF communications capabilities that enable it to interact with a wide array of bridge units that operate in the environments and transport channels through which containers move. In addition, the CDG includes a wide area wireless capability that permits it to remain in contact via Global System for Mobiles/Short Message System (GSM/SMS) (GPRS) cellular communications as well as satellite communications. The purpose of the wireless communications pathway on the CargoWatch logistics management system is to link the CDG to the Network Operations Center (NOC). Data and activity logs are passed upstream from the device to the NOC; and commands and data are passed downstream from the NOC to individual or groups of CDG-equipped containers. Containers are equipped with a CDG, cable guard, and General Electric (GE) ALLSET Container Security Device (CSD). For more information, contact John Sammon III at (800) 448-6505, ext. 589 |
