Intermodal Asset Monitoring

PAR LMS is a business element of PAR Government Systems Corporation (PGSC), a wholly owned subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation (PTC). PGSC has performed a wide variety of high technology, defense related activities since 1968. Areas of expertise include digital signal processing, image exploitation, geospatial systems development, network implementation, and environmental systems improvement. PTC specializes in point of sale (POS) systems and industrial control systems. PAR LMS has over 10 years of experience in logistics management, asset monitoring, container security, and hazardous materials surveillance via the development and deployment of CargoWatch® and its predecessor, CargoMate®. Over the years, PAR LMS has successfully provided asset monitoring and tracking to more than 2000 intermodal containers all over the globe.

In the late 1990s, PAR LMS developed and deployed CargoMate®, a distributed system designed to improve the management and utilization of chassis and containers. CargoMate® provides continuous, end-to-end visibility of intermodal chassis and cargo as they move through the freight transportation network. Assets equipped with the CargoMate® GPS asset monitoring device (i.e., Chassis "DataGate" or communications platform) transmit instantaneous location and status data via GPS, Internet, and cellular communications.

The primary focus of PAR LMS' CargoWatch® solution is the intermodal freight tracking and security arena. Involvement in this sector began with the need for over-the-road (OTR) and out-of-facility tracking of intermodal chassis fleets owned by shipping companies and operated by third party drayage outfits. The emphasis has evolved with the asset monitoring needs and priorities of the DOD in general and the logistics industry in particular. PAR LMS has concentrated on utilizing CargoWatch® as a computing and communications platform capable of hosting a growing set of functions and capabilities needed to satisfy the requirements of the entire intermodal community (i.e., shippers, carriers, ports,
